Get To Know All 5 Bands Playing The First Liberty Hall House Party

Next Saturday night, May 6th, we’re throwing the first-ever Liberty Hall House Party with a chock-a-block lineup, including Pist Idiots, Children Collide, Crocodylus, ARSE, and Jet City Sports Club.

In case you weren’t familiar with any of these bands, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to stage a quick introduction.

Pist Idiots

The first time I laid eyes on Pist Idiots, two of them had their heads encased in Glad Wrap with jumper leads attached to their nipples. It was love at first sight, naturally.

Since that fateful night, Sniff and the lads have evolved into one of the great Aussie rock n roll groups. Their debut record, ‘Idiocracy’, is a glorious punch in the stomach; all raging ocker outbursts and surprising moments of tenderness (these are tender guys we’re talking about!). A phenomenal album without a weak track. Listen to it.

Children Collide

One of the best Australian bands of the 2000’s and early 2010’s, Melbourne’s Children Collide have returned after a nearly a decade between albums with ‘Time Itself’, picking up right where they left off.

With all the pulsating basslines, hypnotic grooves and scuzzy guitar tones of their first two albums, Time Itself is more than just a return to form; it takes their music from the noughties to another level, resurrecting all the chaos from The Long Now and Theory Of Everything and focusing it into something a bit sharper.

Crocodylus

I once witnessed Crocodylus frontman Joshua Keith Williams break into an elderly woman’s home, ransack her medicine cabinet, and throw a brick through her TV. Keep that in mind while listening to their song ‘Home Invasion’, an undeniable highlight of their 2022 debut record, ‘Muscle Memory’.

Suddenly, Williams’ frantic screams seem like the psychotic ramblings of a genuine mad person! To witness these outbursts live is an experience unlike any other in Australian music. Fasten your carabiner clips, grip your keys tightly, and don’t make any mention of your home address. Now, you may enjoy one of the best live acts on the circuit.

ARSE

Heroes of the Sydney underground, ARSE have spent the past number of years establishing their title as the most consistently great live band around. It’s hard-hitting and no-bullshit (the drummer seems to have less equipment every time I see them).

It’s music largely about modern anxieties, and it’s completely anxiety-inducing. With relentless pulsating rhythms and demonic wailing guitar sounds, you’re guaranteed to leave their set with a few extra hairs on your chest. Plus Jono’s chain guitar strap is the toughest thing in Sydney music. I’d love to cop a feel of that guy’s shoulder.

Jet City Sports Club

They’ve only been around for two-ish years, but Jet City Sports Club have already stolen the hearts of folks all over the country with their huge pop hooks and dreamy vocals. With three singles and EP under their collective belt, JCSC have quickly

I’ve had ‘Feeling It All’ stuck in my head all morning. I reckon it may stay there until next Saturday night, where I will finally scratch this itch by seeing them live.
